Bangkok

Bangkok is one of the world's best cities, and also one of the most visited. The city is enormous and it will take two or more weekend trips to see it all. The heat, turbulence and congestion are both frightening and exciting. Experience Bangkok luxury by indulging in their high-end fashion districts and buzzing shopping malls. Discover serenity in their temples and of course set your taste buds ablaze at Michelin Star restaurants and star class accommodation.

Tipping.

Restaurants and bars- Tipping is NOT customary in Thailand so there is NO mandatory requirement to tip anyone, but small gratuities for great service are very much appreciated..

Taxi- Drivers do not expect a tip so it is not necessary unless you like to round up your fare.

Hotels- There's no requirement to tip any hotel staff, although you can give 10/20 baht to porters or cleaners for good service.

Lingo in Bangkok.

Many locals in Bangkok are fluent in both Thai and English, so getting around may not be too bad without knowing the language especially in the tourist locations. However if you can negotiate in Thai while at their many shopping centres, it is a plus for you. So lucky for you, we got you covered. Here’s a couple phrases to help you get by.

Tip** If you are male, you end sentences with the word (khrup/krap) similarly if you are female, you end your sentences with the word (ka/kap).

Transport from Bangkok Airport.

There are 3 ways to get from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok city center- by train, bus or taxi.

Taxi.

Taxis at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BBK) does not offer flat rate fees rather is it calculated on a meter, that depends on the destination distance and traffic. Usually the fare is around ฿240 to downtown but you may have to pay for toll fees which are ฿75. The journey to downtown is roughly 32 mins subject to traffic.

Train.

Taking the Airport Rail Link City Train from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BBK) to Bangkok is the cheapest option if you do not mind getting into Bangkok’s public transport. You will have to take a connecting train so you have two options. You can either take the train and descend at Phayathai station and hop on to the BTS Skytrain or you can get off at Makkasan station in order to take to the MRT subway. The journey is about 30 mins and trains operate from 06:02-00:02.

Bus .

Taking the airport bus to downtown Bangkok is the least convenient travel option from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BBK) as the bus stops many times along the way, bringing the travel time up to 1 hour. However if you prefer this method you can get a bus from the airport itself, get the ticket from the driver and make sure to keep change with you.

Best time to travel.

November - March are the best times to travel, however since Bangkok is a tropical country it is warm and humid all year round.
