Stockholm

Pine trees, great shiny lakes and the birthplace of the iconic pop band Abba. These stereotypes while fairytale-like and beautiful, barely scratch the surface of what this unique city has to offer. Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is a beautiful and vibrant city located on the Baltic Sea. It is known for its stunning architecture, rich history, and vibrant cultural scene, making it a popular destination for travelers from all over the world. It is also called the "Venice of the North", is without a doubt its perfectly charming setting upon islands and peninsulas from the end of Lake Malar flowing into the Baltic. Also, the lush green spaces, art galleries, world-renowned museums and theatres mix history with modernity in a way only Stockholm can. While strolling through the iconic city hall, be sure to immerse yourself in the latest trends in music, design, fashion and tech Sweden is known for and take in the humble, egalitarian Swedish culture over fika (Swedish coffee/sweet break) with locals.

Tipping.

Restaurants and bars- When eating out in Sweden it is common to to round up to the nearest big number. For example if your bill comes to 380 SEK, you can round up to 400 SEK.

Taxi- Taxi drivers can be given a few extra kronor.

Hotels- Tipping for special services provided by hotel staff is fine, but is not expected and is simply a matter of personal taste. Porters and cloakroom attendants often charge fixed fees. Doormen at hotels and restaurants are tipped modestly.

Transport from Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

There are 4 ways to get from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Stockholm - by train, bus, taxi or car.

Train.

If you’re looking to get into Stockholm, the Arlanda Express stops at Stockholm Central Station every 15 minutes taking you from Arlanda Airport into the city centre - journey time is around 20 minutes. Tip: It’s always better to book ahead because trying to get a ticket onboard the train will cost more.

Bus.

The Flygbassarna Airport Coaches arrive at the space between the city terminal (near Central Station) and the airport to take you to the city in approximately quarter of an hour. There are options to choose from, especially if you want to make multiple stops including Stockholm city. One such option is Flixbus which goes to and from terminal 5 directly.

Car.

Airport transfers are very popular among those travelers that prefer a premium transport service from Arland Airport. If that’s you, you can often choose from a selection premium vehicles from Mercedes Benz, Audi to BMW and despite the higher rates to taxis, the fixed price can possibly make it cheaper and more accessible for you as well.

Taxi.

Taxi is a fairly quick way to get to Stockholm from Arlanda Airport but a couple of things to keep in mind. Only taxis that have an agreement with the airport are allowed to take up space at the stand outside and are not available from 24.00 to 06.00 so it is best to book well in advance if your flight arrives during these times.

Best time to travel.
