Restaurants and bars- Tips are not expected and considered rude.

Although the local language in Tokyo is Japanese, getting around with knowing only english is possible. Sign boards and streets are all labeled in english and most locals can speak fluently. Menu o kudasai = Please give me a menu

O-kaikei o onegaishimasu = Check please

Transport from Narita Airport (NRT)

 

There are 3 ways to get from Narita Airport to city center - by train, bus and taxi.

Train.

There are quite a few options when it comes to catching the train from Narita.

The JR Narita Express is a fast and comfortable airport train that can be taken from Narita.

The JB Sobu line is an inexpensive alternative option to the JR Narita Express. It is a normal commute train that has several stops along the way.

The Keisei Limited Express is the fastest connection train into Tokyo. The seats can be reserved and is a comfortable form of travel.

Bus.

There are many bus companies offering services from the the Airport to different parts of the city and even direct transfers to certain hotels. The limousine bus costs about 3000 yen ensuring a comfortable ride while other smaller buses will cost around 1000 yen.

Taxi.

 The airport is located about 60km out of Tokyo so a taxi is considered the most expensive option, however taxis are widely available if you do prefer it.

Best time to travel.

 

The best time to visit Tokyo is between March and April and September and November. Autumn ushers in colourful foliage and comfortable temperatures.
